About IKASNABAR '13 Conference

We have a new deadline for receiving research papers at Ikasnabar 13: July 31. You can submit it in English, French, German, Spanish, Catalan or Basque-Navarrese.
MOOCs, PLEs and eLearning platforms
The main three topics of the 6th International Conference on Open Education and Technology are Massive Open Online Courses, Personal Learning Environments and Learning Content Management Systems, i.e. MOOC, PLE and LCMS or eLerning platforms. If you are interested in these cutting-edge topics, attend Ikasnabar 2013 in Zalla, one of the knowledge villages of Europe. This Conference is organized by researchers of the University of the Basque Country. General Chair: Gorka J. Palazio, EHU. Program co-chairs: Inmaculada Maiz and Carlos Castaño.

Target Audience
This International Conference addresses educational topics to all kind of teachers, specially to lecturers and professors, who want to learn, collaborate and know more about Social learning, Open Education and Technology. The papers presented at this Conference must be refered to these two main topics: Open Education and Technology for teachers and learners. We encourage teachers throughout this Conference to write research papers. If you are involved in the design, management or development of eLearning, performance support or organizational training and development, come to Zalla and discover how you can maximize performance with learning technologies.
Research papers
Do you want to send us a research paper about one of the topics of Ikasnabar and publish it in our proceedings? You can submit your research papers from now on. The final day to receive your paper is May 31 (extended). Papers must be 7-15 pages long, using APA guidelines, and with this typography: Times 12. You can download this template in Open Document format to write it. The images and other graphic references mustn't be more than 30 percent of the whole paper. Send it to our email till May 31. Remember that the paper will be under a P2P review and will contact authors on June 9th to tell them is the paper has been accepted or not. Email your paper via ikasnabar@gmail.com. Remember to write an abstract in English, whatever the paper language is. The summary should be two hundred words or less.
Visit the heart of the Ancient Enkarterri
Apart from attending this Conference for getting information about eLearning strategies at European and international levels, you have a lot to see as a turist. We hope you'll come to Zalla, the ancient Navarrese village of Knowledge. One amazing trip visiting the Western heart of the Basque Landscape. Here you can taste the famous txakoli (white wine) of Biscay, visit the Basque bonnet Museum in Balmaseda or the Historical Museum of Enkarterri in Urreztieta, Sopuerta. Not very far from Zalla you can visit Guggenheim Museum or the unique ferry of Portugalte (suspension bridge). More information at Enkartur's website.
Lodging & location. Hotels and facilities
Location: Zalla zine-antzokia, the newest convention facilities in Zalla. There is a train station, so you can go to Bilbao City and the coast in 35 minutes. Conference attendees can make their own room reservation in Zalla, but we can help you. Our discounted rate at The Hotel Ibarra hasn't expired yet, and there may still be rooms available for 59 euros and up. To find out exact rates, we encourage you to contact us so we can arrange your stay in Zalla, ikasnabar (at) gmail (dot) com. We also have other cheaper choices (Chicote hotel) and we can arrange your visit in other town, village o city near Zalla. There is another excellent hotel in Balmaseda (Hotel San Roque). Conference rates
Rates include: attendance to all sessions plus the MOOC making course, Proceedings (ebook with ISBN), Coffee Breaks and 1 ticket to visit the famous vineyards of 'Otxaran txakolina' with a tasting session at Señorío de Otxaran txakoli. Agenda & Sessions
Free Course for all the attendants: 'How to implement a MOOC on Chamilo LMS', by Yannick Warnier. Chamilo is a powerful GPL licensed eLearning platform. Venue: Library, Kultur Etxea (Culture Center).
Group visit to the famous vineyard of txakoli Otxaran (white wine), tasting one of the best wines of Enkarterri and of the world. Attendants will see the implementation of cutting-edge technology in the process of making wine, in order to get inspiration. We'll go there by public bus. It's not very far from the village centre.
